Preparing for your initial consultation

Your general dentist or physician will refer you initially for a consultation. Should you have a medical condition that may be of concern we ask that you advise our office so sufficient time is provided for your consultation. Also, a list of medications you are taking should be brought with you to the initial appointment. We may require certain medical tests or evaluations be performed prior to your surgery. In addition, consultation with your physician or specialist may be necessary prior to scheduling your procedure.

Your consultation fee and any charges for radiographs will be due on the day of your consultation. If you are covered under a dental insurance plan, please ensure we have this information in order that we can assist with a claim to your insurance provider for reimbursement (to the extent your plan limits) . Your medical personal health number (Care Card) should also be provided.

Important: All patients under the age of 19 years of age should be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.

This first appointment includes an oral examination and any necessary radiological evaluation (x-rays) required to diagnose your condition. Your diagnosis will be discussed and treatment options will be outlined. Any of your questions or concerns can be addressed at this appointment. Anaesthetic options will also be discussed (local anaesthetic, intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia).

Our support staff will be able to schedule your procedure, provide an estimate of your treatment plan, review your surgical preparation instructions and complete the necessary claim forms for your insurance provider.

Should you have any questions or concerns following your consultation appointment or need further clarification, you are welcome to call or e-mail us in this regard.
